Covermeter Surveys

The cover to reinforcement is critical in maintaining the integrity of reinforced and prestressed concrete.
Areas of cover less than that recommended for the environmental conditions and grade of concrete can produce significant defects due to water and chloride ingress resulting in corrosion of the reinforcement.
 
Covermeter surveys are undertaken to determine the position and cover of the reinforcement. The area to be surveyed is generally set out in a 500mm or 1m grid either over the whole area to be surveyed or in selected representative areas. Data loggers enable relatively large areas to be undertaken rapidly.
